The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the selection of seven projects totaling nearly $11.4 million to advance geothermal energy development. University of Oklahoma is one of the awarded universities.
Welcome to the research forum of drilling automation and process safety. We bring the innovation and ideas together and solve the real field issues of petroleum industry. We collaborate with academic and industry professionals. Our researchers are one of the top notch professionals equipped with all the necessary skills required to solve any real field solutions.
Human Factors It is pertinent to delve deeper into organizational factors to avoid incidents such as Deepwater Horizon. Safety is not an intellectual exercise to keep us in work.Systemic risks can be avoided by integrating technical and non-technical aspects in offhore operations. We are using several cutting edge technologies such as eye-tracking to understand the nuances of human factor.
Read MoreWell Integrity Volatile markets and harsh locations and downhole conditions pose severe challenges for ensuring safe and long-lasting intact well conditions. Well integrity is a crucial issue in the life cycle of all sub-surface boreholes. Specific types of wells and well operations pose their specific issues. To understand the barriers to well integrity, and what is required to sustain it, a holistic study encompassing a wide range of issues is highly required.
Read MoreMultiphase flow Our lab is equipped with several flow loops where we simulate the real-field conditions. We implement computational fluid dynamics and machine learning approach to understand the flow features. Simultaneously, we also develop customized computational tools to accurately predict the flow features.
Read MoreGeothermal Drilling This research includes development and testing of smart lost circulation materials (LCM) that use shape memory polymers activated by geothermal temperature to prevent the loss of fluid into fractured rock next to the drilled wellbore. The smart LCM expands within the fractures to reduce non-drilling time (NDT) and strengthen the wellbore in high temperature geothermal drilling operations.
